WE AIN’T THAT
While I was competing in my first Hyrox race earlier this year, I found my mind traveling to a list that I refer to as “we ain’t that.” Honestly, the initial item that sparked this list was a one-armed sports bra – no hate, just not for me. I keep updating this list in my head so thought it might benefit someone if I provided my list for others to add too or consider.
We ain’t:
Bullying — we battle bullies. We are tigers, fierce and focused, and when we see power being abused, we don’t look away. We stand tall, use our voices, and protect others when they can’t protect themselves. Conviction is our armor, courage is our roar.
Shrinking – We don’t shrink to fit someone else’s comfort zone. You want less of us? Sorry — that’s not an available option. We’ve worked too hard to take up space, to own our stories, to be visible. We expand, we evolve, and we lift others as we rise.
Single-threaded, We are not single-threaded — we’re a million-threaded. We manage careers, families, friendships, passions, and purpose simultaneously. We weave complexity into strength and chaos into creativity. That’s not multitasking; that’s mastery.
Waiting – We don’t wait for permission, perfect timing, or ideal conditions. We act. We experiment. We learn by doing. Progress doesn’t come from the sidelines, and neither do we. Our predisposition to action is how change happens.
Scared – We feel fear, sure — but we move through it. We know women are watching, and that visibility demands bravery. We show courage because we remember who we represent: every woman told she couldn’t, shouldn’t, or wasn’t ready yet.
Lazy – Lazy? We wouldn’t even know where to start. FIERCE women are in motion — building, creating, mentoring, dreaming. We don’t just hustle for hustle’s sake; we pour energy into what matters. Drive is our default setting.
Wasting time – See above. Life is short — and we intend to live it all the way out. We play hard, work hard, love hard, and rest with purpose. Every hour counts, and we spend ours on people and missions that move the needle.
Fake – We’re not here to play pretend. If you ask, expect the truth — the real real. Authenticity is our currency. We’d rather be raw and real than polished and hollow. Vulnerability is our version of power.
Surprised – We’re not surprised by anything — not by progress, not by pushback. We’re clear-eyed, steady, and wired for this moment in time. We’ve seen the world change because we helped change it. We don’t flinch; we focus.
Bored – Bored? Impossible. There’s too much to do — for ourselves, for each other, for the next generation of FIERCE women. Purpose is our oxygen. The world needs what we’re building, and we’re just getting started.
We know the world doesn’t change because someone handed us permission — it changes because we decided to be more.
So let’s keep showing up. Keep reminding everyone — and ourselves — exactly what we’re made of.
